It is a cultural service specializing in the documentary heritage of the Basque Country, the purpose of which is to bring this common good closer to, value and facilitate its use to the citizens.

It preserves the documentation of historical value of the Basque Government, created in 1936, and of a large number of individuals, families, companies and organizations.

The Archive preserves, organizes, describes, digitizes, and disseminates its documentary collections on this website. Its object and nature are regulated by Law 5/2022, of June 23, on Comprehensive Document Management and Documentary Heritage of the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country, and the regulations that develop it.
